Summer school for conference interpreters
Second edition · hosted by the Sibiu International Theatre Festival
Applications are now open for the second edition of the Summer School for Conference Interpreters, hosted in June 2026 by the Sibiu International Theatre Festival (FITS, 19–28 June 2026) — one of the largest multilingual cultural platforms in Europe.
The programme brings undergraduate and master's students face to face with the reality of the profession: hands-on, in-booth training alongside professional interpreters working at the festival, for an audience from over 80 countries. The four working languages — English, French, German, Spanish are no accident: they reflect the concrete needs of an international market.
- Four days of hands-on training in the silent booth at official FITS events.
- Consecutive interpreting workshops with mentors active in the profession.
- Workshops on using technology to train machine translation engines and to prepare for conference interpreting, offered as part of the European LT-LiDER project..
- Presentations on surtitling at FITS and accessibility in the cultural context.
- Access to special conferences, the Performing Arts Market and meetings with international cultural guests.
- Accommodation, meals and a certificate of attendance.
